I get years from my cart timken bearings, even cheapo replacements. Assuming you're not abusing them they should last ages, even cheap replacements, and considering the tiny price when ordering tubes of 5-10, a 20 minute bearing change is nothing once a year if you destroy them that easily. Thing is, even quality bearings are pretty cheap when bought from the right place and in decent quantities. People on ebay lap up bearing kits that you then put together

This brings up a good question as to the best grease to use. I have some marine grease and some very sticky grease. Both used with mixed results. Would you say these vehicles see low speed shock loading where high pressure lubricity is important or there ability to shed water. Do some greases help the performance of the seals? Or does the grease matter with a better quality bearing. Also from what i read about sealed or triple sealed bearing they are not intended for submerging in water but designed for water splash.

It does make since that the better the grease maintenance the longer the bearing life.

A couple of days ago my girlfriend's bicycle broke. The rear wheel was stuck. Tonight I had finally some spare time to have a look. The nachi bearings had failed, so much so that the wheel must have spun for some time piecewise with the axle.As a consequence, if you are picturing this right, the left nuts had tighten as that very hot place, whereas the nuts and cup on the drive side were completely loose (the axle had screwed itself to the left).
